Open Day a Success

Gareth Byrne, Guernsey Hospitality Association’s Education Lead was pleased to work in partnership with the College of Further Education to put on the recent hospitality showcase. Industry experts were on hand to share their experience as well as the College sharing the different educational pathways now available to prospective students.

The event was a success. As Gareth explains, “We had strong interest in both candidates job hunting on the day as well as students considering embarking on an apprenticeship, either within hospitality or professional cookery”.

The day was well attended by industry with representation from Randall’s, Bean 14, The Streat and Sarnia Hotels, as well as Red Carnation Hotels and Hotel Jerbourg. Students had the opportunity to experience cooking and tasting a fresh local meal along with industry chefs while also gaining an insight into the art of making macaroons.
